This too flirts with reduction though once again aggressive swirling lifts it to reveal spice and floral nuances on the red and dark currant-suffused nose. There is excellent vibrancy to the super-sleek, well-detailed and utterly delicious middle weight flavors that culminate in a highly complex, classy and sneaky long finish where a touch of bitter chocolate slowly emerges. This is lovely and a wine that should age effortlessly.

Fine deep purple, the nose just suggests an immensity to follow, but it retains its restraint. Entirely harmonious in the mouth, with a luxurious density of fruit, and while the tannins are submerged the acidity is just present. The style is slightly more in red fruit than black, though both play their part in the ensemble. Quite a robust Romanée-St-Vivant, but plenty to look forward too. Tasted: November 2020.
