Robert Parker (92)

Cotat’s citrus-colored 2012 Sancerre La Grande Côte comes from a steep one-hectare parcel with 40-year-old vines on calcareous soils (Caillottes and Kimméridgiens). After the élevage of eight months in used barrels, it has been bottled without fining and filtration. It is a fresh, almost austere, yet rich and complex, beautiful and discreetly perfumed Sancerre with delicate citrus flavors along with almost floral and nutty aromas. The taste is pure, zesty, mineral, elegant, very well-balanced yet not bone dry, whereas the finish is enormously mineral, aromatic and zesty, again indicating aromas of gooseberries and citrus in the aftertaste. Persistent length, good aging potential.
