The 2012 Gewurztraminer Heights Wine Late Harvest (Yarden) is vinified by cryoextraction and comes in at 207 grams per liter of residual sugar and 12% alcohol. Syrupy and rich, this shows off its sugar and apricot-laced fruit, with hints of lychee in the background. Not showing a lot of acidity for balance, it is very much on the unctuous side, but it is wonderfully delicious and a true dessert wine. In terms of keeping it–wines like this tend to be rather resilient and hold well. That said, they also do change character dramatically as they oxidize. So, depending on your personal tastes, exercise some caution. This review (and the price) is based on a 375ml bottle.
