This 28 year old Islay whisky comes from a refill bourbon hogshead and fills the nose with groat porridge topped with honey syrup, after a few minutes apple and pear take over. On the tongue, “wet” cake, pineapple (topped with vanilla cream), strawberries and oak spices alternate. The finish is wonderfully elegant and floral, but at the same time warming with sweet fudge. Mmmm.
