SMWS Tasting Notes
The nose evokes Islay; lobster creels,smoke drifting from distant malting-now a beach bqq ; first course-crab claws,scallops and smoked chowder; second course- pork chops with sage sizzling in a pan. Later by the dying embers, we share liquorice all sorts; someone gets Germolene on a cut,after falling over rock-pools; sea breezes flow warmly across the machair. Now the best bit- the taste. Toasted marshmallows, peanut brittle, vanilla, and iced caramels provide fascinating, mellifluous sweetness- balanced by...well,if we talk about ash,soot,smoke,tarry ropes and feasts of seafood- thats just not poetical enough - fantastical, magical, transporting...
