Giaconda’s 2008 Chardonnay is every bit as good as I remember it. It’s developing into a broad, rich, nutty styled white with aromas of warm peaches, apricots and butterscotch over hints of ginger, mace and yeast extract. The palate is far more elegant than the nose suggests with a silken texture medium to full body and concentrated flavor layers. The richness is nicely offset by a fine acid backbone, and it finishes with a great persistence of savory / toasty flavors. Delicious now, it should cellar to 2020+.
