The 2001 Sena has an attractive nose with fresh black fruit infused with a touch of oyster shell/brine. There is something of the “sea” about the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, plenty of peppery black fruit and a rather conservative, straight-laced finish. It is quite austere, but nicely balanced with an attractive espresso tinged aftertaste.
The 2000 Sena (77% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Merlot and Carmenere) remains purple-colored with a high-class perfume of pain grille, vanilla, black currant, and blueberry. This is followed by a supple, forward wine with soft tannins and a long, pure finish.
