The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rocks-up out of the glass with open knit scents of blackcurrant pastilles, black raspberries and mulberries plus suggestions of garrigue, potpourri, stewed black tea and fragrant earth. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers soft-textured, juicy black fruit flavors, offering great tension and a perfumed finish.
A rich, layered blend of merlot and cabernet franc that delivers lots of blue-fruit and walnut character with a full body, chewy yet soft tannins and a flavorful finish.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful wine that captures all of the brooding intensity that is the signature of Kenefick Ranch, where this fruit is sourced. Black cherry, plum, grilled herbs, licorice, menthol, gravel and scorched earth infuse the 2018 with tremendous character. I would give the 2018 at least a few years in bottle to soften. There is plenty to look forward to.
