Complex and bold with notes of cassis, dark berries, cedar, ground spices, charred bark and earth. Hints of pencil shavings, too. Full-bodied, wide and broad-shouldered, yet it shows delicacy and finesse. Very fine tannins, but compact and structured. Long and deep. Serious wine.

Vinous (94)

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Lightning Bolt is classy, polished and super-expressive. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, leather and tobacco are nicely dialed in this blend of the six best barrels in the cellar. It offers terrific depth and textural resonance in the more vibrant style that is the norm here these days. Pretty floral top notes and bright acids liven up the finish.
