The 2021 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is highly aromatic with resinous notes of pine needles, delicate smoky reduction, umami richness, and Meyer lemon. Full-bodied, there’s a good bit of power behind it, with good focus. Savory with fresh herbs, pithy citrus, and chamomile and long on the palate, it will drink well 2024-2034.

The 2021 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is particularly savory this year, with lots of matchstick character that fans of Burgundy will love. Its chalky, saline mineral tones unwind slowly to reveal delicate notes of apricot and dried jasmine. Medium-bodied, satiny and expansive, it has generous savory flavors balanced by energetic acidity and a latent, flinty finish. This Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay will be long-lived in bottle.

This is very structured for Hyde with a chewiness and depth that really impresses. You need to dig deep and then you see a solid phenolic backbone with bright fruit and apple and peach skin and some flinty undertones.
