Ripe and focused, with a loamy accent running along the edges of the core of cassis and bitter plum. This has loads of sweet bay leaf, charcoal and smoldering tobacco coursing underneath the fruit, giving this range and a touch of old-school character. More like an '18 in feel, with the terroir proudly on display.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is a stunning wine off this ranch. A vivid, beautifully chiseled wine, the 2019 captures all the energy of this site. Blue/purplish fruit, gravel, crushed rocks, incense and dried flowers race across the palate, lifted by bright salivating acidity and the intense minerality that is such a signature here. What a sensational wine.
Number 77 in the Top 100 from 2023
Lastly, and incorporating 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch Vineyard is more black-fruited, with some savory herbs, iron, and loamy earthy nuances as well as a full-bodied, rich, powerful style on the palate. It’s a beautiful, concentrated, age-worthy 2019 that deserves 4-6 years of bottle age.
