The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum is pure and expressive this year. Blended with 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, it has a beautiful perfume of cassis, mint chocolate, dried thyme and lavender with hints of mushroom and tobacco just beginning to emerge. The palate is plush and velvety with an expansive core of floral fruit and bright, balancing acidity that gives it a weightless feel. It could use another 3-5+ years in bottle.
Nearly black and made from 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, and a small dash of Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Annum brings forward a more lifted profile, with menthol, tobacco leaf, kirsch, and spice box notes. Full-bodied, with more lift and a bright, angular texture, it has earthy grip, fresh lift, and a good balance of fruit and earth. This needs some time, so give it a few years and drink 2026-2046.
