The Roy Estate Proprietary Red Wine has a new label name and design, and it will be called Mr. Evans Estate Proprietary Red going forward. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot aged for 18 to 20 months in 75% new 225-liter Taransaud French oak barrels, the 2016 Mr. Evans Estate Proprietary Red is very deep garnet-purple in color, with beautiful cassis, crushed blackberries and wild blueberries scents with touches of violets, tilled soil, fungi, menthol and smoked meats plus a hint of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied and tightly wound with loads of mineral accents coming through in the mouth, it's framed by very ripe, fine-grained tannins, finishing long and layered.
