Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Artalade Vineyard comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of crème de cassis, chocolate box and licorice, with underlying plum preserves and cedar chest notes. The full-bodied palate is generously laden with black fruit preserves flavors, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a lively line, going long and earthy on the finish.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Artalade Montanga Vineyard comes from a site on Pritchard Hill and is one of the standouts in the lineup in 2019. Saturated purple-hued, with tons of red, blue, and black fruits, it slowly offers up more minerality, gravelly earth, lead pencil, and violet notes with time in the glass. A big, concentrated, opulent beauty, it stays balanced and nicely focused on the palate, yet it’s a sexy wine with the dial turned up to 11. All Cabernet aged 18 months in 80% new barrels, it has enough tannins to warrant short-term cellaring and will have 20 years of longevity.
Densely packed, with baker's chocolate and tobacco wrapped around a core of steeped plum, black currant reduction and blackberry paste. The grippy, warm earth–filled finish pulls the fruit along with it, showing nice cut and drive.
Aromas of mulberries, dark plums, earth, bark and baking spices. Full body with plush tannins. Rich and creamy with punchy character. Flavorful finish with excellent length. A blend of 62% cabernet sauvignon and 38% cabernet franc.
