This brims with wild sage and sweet bay leaf notes, along with violet, cassis, açaí and blueberry aromas and flavors. Lush and inviting along the edges, but with a racy, iron-tinged spine cutting through the middle. The long finish lets all the elements linger in harmony. Will be a real winner with a bit more bottle age.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Ballard Vineyard is fabulous. Rich and voluptuous in the glass, with striking presence, the 2019 is the sort of wine that will disappear at the dinner table in an instant. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and mocha, with bright Spring Mountain acids that extend the finish effortlessly. This sumptuous, open-knit Cabernet is a real head-turner.
Mild days and warm at night because the valley-floor heat ascends. In a clearing in the forest at the top of the mountain that’s a 1-acre parcel in a 25-acre site owned by a Swiss lady and developed with Aaron Pott (ex Newton). It was planted to French clones 25 years ago on deep, well-drained soil.
Minty, pure, with quite a bit of tannin. Very expressive. Fresh and dry on the end. Very pure.
