This elegant effort is a model of Bordeaux restraint and harmony. A resounding success, the medium-bodied 2002 possesses a deep ruby color as well as a sweet nose of cherry jam intermixed with smoke, dried herbs, and spice box, an attractive mid-palate, and a fruit-driven style. There is admirable sweetness and elegance, yet surprising staying power that caresses the palate with no hard edges.
Clean and crisp, with good tannins, medium body and a fresh berry and currant aftertaste. Slightly hollow, but already a pleasure to taste. Nicely done this year.
