Robert Parker (92)

This is a sumptuous La Lagune that has hit full maturity but shows no signs of decline. The color is a dense, opaque dark garnet. The wine offers up smoky notes intermixed with jammy black cherries, currants, licorice, and earth. The wine is thick, unctuously textured, with still some moderate tannin to shed. The wine is loaded, very rich, thick, and juicy, with very complex aromatics and surprising weight and power in the mouth. To my thinking, there has never been a more powerful, concentrated La Lagune ever produced.

Winespectator (90)

Very dark garnet-red, with an inky center. Ripe berry and tobacco aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with tobacco, raspberry and light toasted oak flavors. Silky finish. Outstanding, if not quite as impressive as I anticipated.

Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
