Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 2009 Labastide Dauzac has more fruit intensity compared to the previous four vintages: blackcurrant and red plum scents, just a touch of cedar in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, more masculine than you would expect given the vintage and blend, with a gentle grip on the saline finish.
Perfumy and polished, with a lilac note giving way to supple blackberry, currant and plum fruit flavors. Subtle anise and violet notes linger on the finish, with a twinge of iron.
