The delicious 1987 Palmer exhibits no sign of cracking up. This ripe, nearly opulent wine, possesses a solid ruby color, more toasty new oak aromas than I would expect, low acidity, and medium body. A charming, deliciously fruity wine, it will keep longer than most 1987s.
Shows an intensity of currant and red cherry aromas and flavors, with firm texture and decent length, but not quite the complexity or richness found in better vintages. Smells great and tastes fine at first, but slips a bit on the finish.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 16/20 points.
