Seemingly close to its plateau of maturity, yet at the same time still relatively youthful and fresh, the dark plum/purple-colored 1990 is beginning to have a hint of amber at the edge. A sweet nose of cola, black cherry jam, smoke, malt chocolate, and earth is followed by a full-bodied, opulently textured wine with very little acidity, still noticeable tannin, a very chewy mid-section, and sweet, layered finish. A very impressive wine that continues to go from strength to strength.
Aromas of plums and spice with coffee and cream. Full-bodied and very smooth, and fine with well-knit tannins and a beautiful finish.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
