One of the strongest efforts from this estate in many years, this dense ruby/purple-hued 2008 displays a full-bodied, masculine, structured style not dissimilar to that of Trotanoy (one of the vintage’s stars). Pure black currant and black cherry fruit are accompanied by underlying notions of minerals, roasted herbs, caramel, and plums. This layered, concentrated, full-bodied wine requires 5-6 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades.
Rock-solid, delivering delicious plum sauce, raspberry and linzer torte notes rounded off by spice and graphite. The fleshy, enticing finish has good length.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
