A strong candidate for an outstanding rating, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a sweet nose of plums, prunes, blackberries, chocolate, and mocha. Soft on the entry, revealing notes of smoke, licorice, and coffee, this fleshy, multi-layered effort finishes with abundant glycerin, tannin, and extract. Another 2-3 years of cellaring is warranted.
Loads of black olive, with a green character underneath. Full-bodied, with lots of toasted oak and an earthy flavor. Round tannins. Lacks fresh fruit, but interesting.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 19/20 points.
