The finest Phelan-Segur since the 1990, the 2005 offers up scents of charcoal, creme de cassis, blueberries, and white flowers. With lovely fruit, abundant fat and richness, medium to full body, and moderately high but sweet tannin, it should drink well for 15 or more years.
Dark in color, with aromas of raspberry, currant and a hint of fresh herbs. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a medium finish. Comes up a little short, but this is stylish.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
