The 1999 Solare is another outstanding effort from Capannelle. This blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Malvasia Nera was aged for 24 months in French oak and spent two years in bottle prior to being released. It is a powerful, masculine expression of Chianti Classico terroir, with notes of earthiness, tobacco, herbs, black cherries and superbly well-integrated oak. Another two to three years of cellaring should put this structured, expressive wine at the early opening of its drinking window.
A beautiful combination of ripe fruit and meat on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with a velvety texture and a toasted oak, meat and berry flavor.
