I tasted the entry-level 2012 Mac?n Cl?sico in the context of the 2013 and 2014 vintages. 2012 was a warm and dry year, delivering very healthy grapes, and even if the alcohol was not higher in the wine, the acidity felt lower. The wine has benefited from extra time in bottle and appears very balanced, expressive and elegant, approachable with a soft, polished texture, very spicy, pleasant and tasty. 40,380 bottles and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in June 2014.
This polished red delivers savory flavors of dried herb, graphite and loamy earth framing muted plum and bitter chocolate flavors. Harmonious, with some depth.
