Notes of ripe and mellow raspberries and cherries with orange peel, cocoa and dried herbs. Medium- to full-bodied. Round and silky with a plush, red-fruited palate. Delicious. Drink or hold.
In 2014, The first vintage of Cuvée Number One was created.
The grapes are hand-sorted and gently de-stemmed, then transported to open-top stainless steel tanks for cold soaking and slow, temperature-controlled native fermentation. During primary fermentation, the cap is punched down twice daily to extract deep color and an extremely pure fruit profile. Once complete, the wine is transferred to 55% new French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation occurrs before spending 11 months in the cellar. Bottling of this unfined and unfiltered Pinot is around one year after the harvest.
Upon opening, this wine bursts with red fruit aromas and a full-bodied mouthfeel. The soft texture contributes to a long, lingering finish. While enjoyable in its youth, if you are patient, this wine will age gracefully for the next 5 to 10 years.
A deep transparent ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir Cuvee Number One is floral with the perfume of candied violets, cola spice, and cherry preserve. Full-bodied and classic, with grenadine, pressed flowers, and vanilla spice, a soft texture, and fine tannins, drink this plush and juicy style of red over the next 4-5 years.
Very pure, with a beam of mulberry puree spilling through, flanked by subtle red tea, apple wood and incense. The finish has a nicely inlaid spine, giving this focus and length.
