A terrific wine and probably a great value given the pricing for this vintage, Malescot Saint-Exupery’s 2002 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, notes of anise-infused plum, blackberries, and cherries, broad, full-bodied flavors, wonderful density, yet tremendous purity and elegance. A noble wine that exudes gravitas, give it 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 15-16 years.
Silky and refined with pretty floral, currant and lightly toasted oak on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a delicious finish. Elegant red. This guy makes serious wine.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
