Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2000 Château Siran is evolving nicely in bottle - developing quite a precocious bouquet with mulberry, blackberry and cassis scents, touches of violet in the background, quite youthful still after 15 years. The palate is medium-bodied with an appreciable grip in the mouth, fine tannins here with satisfying weight; blackberry and cassis fan out gently towards the rounded finish. Having now encountered this twice in just a few weeks, it is safe to say that this millennial is just beginning to hit a sweet spot. Who knows...it may even improve further. .
Textbook warm cigar, cocoa and mulled currant aromas and flavors, with rich, velvety structure melding beautifully with the fruit notes while the charcoal-edged finish smolders nicely. Really nice showing.
