The 1970 is a top-flight effort for Haut-Batailley, and a wine that behaves in personality and character like a true Pauillac, rather than a St.-Julien. Rather rich and full for Haut-Batailley, with a good, firm underpinning of tannins still evident, this dark ruby wine has a complex bouquet and fine long finish.
Ruby-garnet; vanilla extract and cedar nose; full, firm, rich and stylish, a bit rustic, but has much flavor and structure; a rare instance when Batailley and Haut-Batailley made similar, top-class wines.
