This wine has been at its peak of maturity for the last 4-5 years, and appears to be holding nicely in my cellar. The problem is that over half of the wines in my case have been corked! Happily, this was a pure bottle, revealing a dark garnet color with some amber at the edge as well as a big, sweet nose of kirsch liqueur, licorice, Asian spices, incense, and roasted herbs.
A solid '82 Pomerol with good richness. Good deep-ruby, garnet color. Black olive, cherry, ripe fruit nose. Medium-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fresh fruit, tobacco and meat finish. Not as great as I remember, but an outstanding bottle all the same.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
