Vinous (91)

(from the same grower as the Fontenys; vinified with 50% whole clusters): Bright, dark red Also a touch spearminty on the nose Then richer and silkier in the mouth than the Fontenys, conveying good energy to the flavors of dark berries and spices This juicy wine finishes with lovely lift and its tannins are ripe, but it will need time in bottle to show more flesh

Here the wood treatment is less evident though not hidden as there is good transparency and freshness to the dark currant, cherry, earth and soft floral scents. Like the Fontenys the vibrant and delicious middle weight flavors possess a sleek mouth feel before culminating in balanced and impressively persistent finish. This is really quite stylish and unusually classy for the appellation.
