Robert Parker (87)

This wine is made in a very rough and tumble style, although it still has an attractive up side, given its dense garnet, murky ruby color, a big sweet nose of cow pasture droppings, roasted meats, dried herbs, earth, and smoky, licorice-infused black fruits. The high level of tannin and relatively tough texture all suggest a style of wine for those with nineteenth century taste. Nevertheless, like so many vintages of Le Gay, there is plenty of depth and richness underlying all the tannin, but it is hard to believe this wine will ever come into complete harmony. However, one still admires it, even in a somewhat masochistic way.

Winespectator (90)

Closed and tight yet very concentrated, with muscular tannins. Dark ruby color. Cool stone, berry, cherry and mineral aromas. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a long finish

Rene Gabriel (18)

Rene Gabriel rates this wine 18/20 points.
