This was a surprisingly good performance for a Pavie-Decesse, which has a tendency to be astringent and austere early in life. The 1993 possesses a deep ruby color. There is plenty of tannin, as well as nicely extracted, ripe cherry and plum fruit backed up with spicy oak, herbs, and wood. There is good purity, as well as a medium-bodied, firmly-knit build to this mid-weight St.-Emilion.
