From a 62-acre vineyard on the Pomerol border, planted in the sandy, gravelly sector of St.-Emilion, the final blend of this 2005 was 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. A strong effort with lots of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, some licorice and forest floor, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple, and impressively endowed. The color is a deep, youthful purple/plum.
Bright blackberry and plum aromas follow through to a full body, with soft tannins and a dark chocolate and berry aftertaste. Delicious now, but much better with a few years of bottle age.
