An impressive effort for the vintage, this is an opulent, velvety-textured 1999 that comes across as a hypothetical blend of a Pomerol and Burgundy. Notes of earth, blackberries, spice box, and herbs compete for the taster's attention. Dense, nearly unctuous, and extremely ripe, with low acidity that adds to the textural fatness and richness.
Very grapey aromas, with hints of licorice and berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with good tannins and a fresh, fruity aftertaste.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
