The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Truffière derives from an isolated parcel surrounded by trees and the dry stone walls Burgundians know as "murgers." The vines are planted north-south, making them challenging to farm but protecting them from sunburn, and excellent drainage makes the site susceptible to hydric stress. This year's wine has turned out superbly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of lemon oil, mandarin, white flowers and warm bread, followed by a full-bodied, textural and multidimensional palate that's tensile, precise and beautifully complete.
