Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a slightly muffled bouquet, the oak not quite singing from the same hymn sheet as the fruit. The palate is better with a slightly honeyed entry, the acidity nicely judged to retain balance, nutmeg infusing the citrus fruit towards the spicy and appealing finish.
This white is Riesling-like, with apple, peach, floral, juniper and stone notes. Elegant yet intense, with a long, lingering aftertaste.
