The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a lifted nose, slightly riper than Thierry Pillot's Caillerets, though it doesn't have the same complexity initially. Aeration meliorates the aromatics, uncovering the hidden mineralité and deft hazelnut and yellow plum touches. The palate is nicely balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a slightly richer honeyed finish that is very broad yet maintains freshness and delineation. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
