Robert Parker (94)

The 2021 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is lovely, exhibiting aromas of pear, peach and lemon mingled with buttery pastry, marzipan and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a fleshy core of fruit girdled by racy acids, it displays fine depth and cut.

Cask sample. Pale lemon. Apple, citrus, pear, peach. Sudden concentration and greater richness. Fine, brisk acidity gives definition (although the acidity seems less piercing and crystalline than in 2020). Ripe, almost dramatic in its intensity with a firm, saline finish. Very fine. (MH)

Pale lemon colour. The bouquet is quite backward, but seems true to Charmes. Some fresh plum on the palate then more acidity than usual, but still very much in barrel. The finish extends really well, with a lively citrus acidity at the back
