From vines in Corgoloin, Emmanuel Rouget's 2015 Côte de Nuits-Villages offers up a beautifully pure bouquet, echoing the notes of ripe cherry and rich soil found in his Chorey-lès-Beaune but cut from more civilized cloth, without the Chorey's wildness. On the palate, the wine is more powerful, deep and blocky, structured around fine tannins but decidedly full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit and a deceptively persistent finish. This is one of the few wines in the cellar to see no new oak.
