Tasted last because it is a big boy. Really bright deep dark red fruit. This has excellent weight on the palate with a depth of dark fruit, some chocolate notes, enough of fruit to cover the powerful structure of this appellation.
The 2018 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has a little more fruité on the nose compared to the Echézeaux, offering cranberry, raspberry and light aromas of damp woodland. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, fine acidity and a lightly spiced, quite linear finish that feels persistent and satisfying. Superb.
