The 2009 Clos de Vougeot is a pretty, energetic wine. Red fruit, flowers and anise are some of the nuances that emerge as this focused, somewhat linear wine takes shape in the glass. This is a very pretty Clos de Vougeot. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.
Moderate wood sets off extremely ripe aromas of plum and earth that lead to rich, rustic, dense and powerful broad-shouldered flavors that possess an extracted, mouth coating and mocha-suffused finish. This is a big and impressively concentrated effort that is just a bit too ripe for my preference.
