Like the Morey-Saint-Denis Villages, Domaine Dujac's 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes was still very much open for inspection when I tasted it in November, bursting with aromas of plums, raspberries, wood smoke, spice and peony. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and dramatic, its rich, fine-grained tannins entirely cloaked in an ample core of bright, juicy fruit. This is a rather gourmand Combettes that should offer a broad drinking window.
Nervy nose with some vegy notes. Great smudgy texture and lots of both fruit and acidity.
