The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village is a concentrated, structured wine, evocative of cherries, ripe berries, licorice, peonies and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep core of ripe, sun-kissed fruit and powdery tannins, it will require some patience.
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Village comes from Rouget’s four parcels in the north of the appellation. This has a pastille-like purity on the nose, dark cherries comingling with violet and light peony scents. The palate is well defined, quite structure, a little savory in style with black pepper on the structured finish. Afford this four or five years in bottle.
Enough wood to comment on surrounds the ripe aromas of purple fruit, pungent earth and humus with a background wisp of the sauvage. The rich, dense and full-bodied flavors possess plenty of sappy dry extract that larger buffers the even firmer tannic spine that shapes the rustic, youthfully austere and notably more persistent finale.
