Notes of red berries, cherries, sweet spices, orange rind and plums preface the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated wine that's lively and mineral, with a touch less flesh and muscle than Les Baudes. As was the case in 2018, this is a very elegant rendition of this site.
There is just a single barrel of Sentiers. Imperial purple of good density. A little more volume of fruit albeit reserved. Luxurious deep raspberry fruit on the palate with superb length, this is very special. Velvet texture and depth of fruit.
Like the Noirots the nose is attractively perfumed with its elegant aromas of essence of red currant, spiced tea and lovely floral scents. The racy, intense and utterly delicious medium weight flavors that possess a chiseled mouthfeel on the muscular, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This structured and very serious effort is a once refined and punchy and a wine that will also need extended patience before it's completely ready for prime time.
