The 2014 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru has a very seductive bouquet with plush redcurrant and wild strawberry scents, briary and undergrowth developing with aeration. The palate is grippy on the entry with firm, slightly grainy tannin. There is something just a little disjointed on the finish...perhaps a few underripe berries that I could not discern on Jadot's other Gevrey grand crus. Let's see how it develops in bottle.
?A highly complex nose features notes of spice, the sauvage, sandalwood, violets, plum and red cherry scents. There is lovely richness and plenty of verve to the attractively textured medium weight plus flavors that possess equally good depth on the balanced and intensely mineral-infused finish that delivers excellent persistence. Like the Charmes this is very compact, indeed openly backwards and will need plenty of bottle age to resolve what are presently very firm tannins.
