There is a mentholated top note present on the overtly spicy, and more deeply pitched, nose of plum, black cherry and a hint of violet. The succulent, round and fleshy larger-bodied flavors tighten up immediately on the powerful, compact and quite serious finale. This youthfully austere effort displays excellent length and is a wine that will require close to a decade to unfold and 12 to 15 years to reach its apogee.
An attractive mid crimson to ruby. There is quite some density of fruit here, more strawberry than other red fruits, but giving a sense of authority. Firm in structure but not on the raw side. Darker fruit now, with fine acidity, a very complete and delicious Clos de Bèze. The fruit seems to take over all the rest as the wine grows in the glass.
