This pure red is infused with black cherry, black currant, licorice, spice and mineral flavors. Intense, yet stays focused and harmonious, showing freshness and great intensity on the finish, with a long aftertaste of fruit and spice.
A spicy, pure, ripe and quite densely fruited nose leads to rich, serious and concentrated big-bodied flavors that are quite powerful yet not massive and culminate in a well-balanced, highly persistent and youthfully austere finish. This is a classic Gelin interpretation of the appellation, which is to say a wine of moderate size and weight that should amply repay 12 to 15 years of cellar time.
