Ripe and airy aromas of poached plum, fresh tobacco, black cherry and a plenitude of floral nuances introduce the rich and notably finer but not necessarily denser medium-bodied flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the powerful, serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This excellent effort is definitely going to need at least some cellaring before it's likely to be reasonably approachable.
56% whole bunch but with the principal stem removed. From new wood, 75% in all, no malolactic yet. Really deep noble purple black. The bouquet is very backward at the moment. A huge wave of dark fruit washes over the palate, with surprising elegance given the exceptional power. This will remain a Sylvie style wine more than a classic Clos St-Jacques, but it will be lovely.
