Right next to Salon, with exactly the same terroir as Salon, 100% Oger. So fine, such a finesse and elegance! Price-quality ratio is remarkable.
From the Cazals family's eponymous Clos in Oger comes the recently released 2003 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Clos Cazals, a complex wine that unfurls in the glass with scents of toasted brioche, honeycomb and confit citrus that are complemented by plenty of autolytic complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and vinous, the richness of the vintage tempered by Oger austerity and low dosage to deliver a mineral, saline profile despite what one suspects are analytically low acids. While 2003 is a challenging vintage, this is a very creditable effort.
